Our media

Phototex Fabric ‘Peel & Stick’

Our Phototex Fabric ‘Peel & Stick’ is considered the industry premium product: DIY-friendly & a great all-rounder – it’s our best-selling media for a reason! It’s a fully opaque, polyester fabric wallpaper with a modern, subtle canvas-style surface texture and great durability. As a peel & stick product, this wallpaper is fully re-positionable after it has been installed – making it the perfect media of choice for our beautiful range of wall decals! However, if you wish to be able to re-position an entire wall of your Phototex Fabric wallpaper to another spot, we recommend keeping the backing paper after installation, noting that any dirt or debris that comes into contact with it during removal/reapplication will affect it’s re-adhesion capabilities. To remove, simply peel off – using a hair dryer to gently heat the surface will make it easier to remove.

“Non-Toxic and Eco-Friendly: Our peel and stick wallpaper is made of 100% polyester fabric. It can be removed and reused without damaging walls or surfaces. Install for a day or a decade. The fabric material is Class A or 1 fire rated, non-toxic, green, and phthalates free.  It is 99% block out –Great for overlapping panels, hiding dirty marks, scuffs and bright coloured walls.”

Phototex Peel & Stick wallpaper application is not advisable for paints described as ‘Washable’, Teflon based, ‘Wash and Wear’ and/or paints with added surfactants.

Silk Paper ‘Spray & Up’

A beautiful wallpaper with a luxe rice-paper style matte finish. Compared to our Phototex Fabric Wallpaper, the biggest points of difference are the installation method and surface finish/texture. The Silk Paper is also a DIY-friendly option, you’ll require a standard household spray bottle for installation but no specialist wallpaper tools are needed. To install this wallpaper, you’ll use the spray bottle to wet the wall before applying each panel – it’s quite a forgiving process as you have approximately 10 minutes to re-adjust and re-position the media by sliding the panel around before it sets in place. Once it has dried, the panels are no longer re-positionable. To remove, you simply saturate the wallpaper before removing it from the wall.

In order to ensure the longevity of the beautiful matte finish, we would recommend this wallpaper for lower traffic areas.

Commerical Grade ‘Wet & Up’

We recommend this product is installed by a professional, or an experienced wallpaper installer. While it is technically possible to self-install our Commercial Grade ‘Wet & Up’, you will require a working knowledge & specialist wallpaper trough in order to submerge each panel in water, in order to activate the pre-pasted glue. Featuring a smooth surface texture, and with excellent durability – as the name suggests, it’s designed to withstand high-traffic areas from home use through to retail, office & school/daycare applications.

This is tricky as it’s not a one size fits all answer – it can be subjective depending on a variety of factors including your preferred feel & appearance, the durability required in the area of installation and your confidence in DIY installation. How much wallpaper will I need to order?

Murals

If your chosen design is a mural, refer to the handy calculator on the item listing and we’ll design it specifically to fit your wall dimensions! Your order will arrive in custom sized panels ready to hang on your chosen wall.

Standard Wallpaper

Once you know what media you’ve chosen (see ‘our media types’), divide the width of your room by the width of the wallpaper roll to calculate the number of rolls you require. Note: you will need to round up to the next whole number.

Roll widths: Fabric Texture (Peel and Stick) = 620 mm
Silk Paper Texture (Spray and Up) = 540mm
Commercial Grade Smooth (Wet and Up) = 620mm

Next, choose the appropriate roll length for your ceiling height – our rolls come in three handy lengths of 2.5m, 2.8m & 3.1m to suit most standard ceiling heights (should you require longer rolls for those super tall ceilings please get in touch with us and we will happily custom quote for you!).

Still unsure? We’re here to help. Just send the height and width measurements of the wall you’d like to beautify to . We will get back to you ASAP with our estimation.

Pre-installation information & preparation

While it is possible to self install of all our wallpaper products, our Phototex Fabric Peel & Stick and Silk wallpapers are most commonly recommended for their ease of application. Like with all DIY projects, installing wallpaper can take some finesse, precision and a little bit of patience. While many of our customers are pleasantly surprised with how straight forward our wallpapers are to apply by following our trusty instruction guides, if you are not confident in your DIY abilities we recommend the use of a professional installer (if you are based in Gold Coast/Brisbane surrounds, we can definitely put you in touch with our recommended installer!)

The manufacturer recommendations for all of our wallpapers is to apply to a clean, dry, smooth wall surface free of irregularities and damage and/or flaking paint, including removal of hooks/nails and filling/sanding any residual holes.

Lightly sanding the wall to ensure a smooth surface, followed by an application of a quality wall primer such as ‘Viponds self adhesive prep coat’  is highly encouraged for ensured even application & adhesion of your wallpaper. Please remember to allow at least 24 hours for your prep coat/s to cure prior to attempting wallpaper or decal installation (refer to the manufacturers instructions for their recommended timeframe).

Phototex Peel & Stick wallpaper application is not advisable for paints described as ‘Washable’, Teflon based, ‘Wash and Wear’ and/or paints with added surfactants. These paints are not compatible as the added ‘washable’ surfactants will repel and interfere with the adhesives in the wallpaper, which can result in bubbling and/or preventing the wallpaper sticking properly. If you are at all in doubt of your paint type/suitability, preparing your wall following the above steps will ensure best results.

Please note: Failure to, or improperly preparing your walls may affect wallpaper finish or cause damage during removal. Although all wallpapers are designed to be removable, due to the variations in conditions and environmental factors such as paint quality & wall preparation we cannot guarantee or be held responsible for a damage-free application and/or removal in every case. Although following all of the above steps will dramatically reduce the chances of this occurring, in rare cases it is possible for damage to occur to walls, cornice or wall joins but again is dependent of a wide array of variables such as paint type/quality.

It’s important to note that when referring to colours that are represented digitally, that they should be considered a guide only. The nature of computers means that colours depicted on a monitor are backlit and as such display differently to the physical printed product. Colours can also vary greatly between each monitor display, between print runs and even between different wallpaper medias. Colours can also display differently depending on their surroundings – factors such as lighting, interior & paint selections and other nearby colours can all dramatically effect how a colour will look in a room. As all wallpapers and decals are individually made to order we are unable to offer returns on these products, and as such we always recommend purchasing a sample to gauge whether the wallpaper is suitable for your space prior to placing your order.

Please note: We cannot guarantee an exact match between samples/separate orders due to natural variances in inks, print runs & different media batches – consider them to be a beneficial guide in gauging the look & feel you are after.

We always recommend ordering a sample before purchasing your wallpaper. This will allow you to get an idea of the wallpaper colours, texture and design. Our wallpaper samples also allow you to see how easily our wallpaper can be applied and establish if your walls are suitable for removable wallpaper.

Our peel & stick wallpaper is not suitable for application on:
  • “Wash and wear” or washable paints. These paints contain an additive that acts as a repellent to the adhesive.
  • Textured walls/surfaces e.g. bricks, concrete, raw timber.
Our samples come as a 24cm x 29cm print in your choice of pattern and media.

Please note: Our true to scale samples are for colour and texture reference only and will not show an entire pattern repeat. It is possible that all elements and colours may not be visible. This is especially true of our murals and large scale patterns.

Pricing is as follows:

1x Sample = $20
2x Samples = $25
3x Samples = $30

Our wallpaper is designed with home installers in mind and comes standard with a 50mm overlap (25mm for murals) built in to each panel in order to provide a margin for error and a little leeway to make lining up patterns a breeze. This is what’s known as an ‘overlap seam’. You can also ‘double-cut seam’ if you prefer, by scoring down this overlap after installation with a metal ruler and Stanley knife and removing the cut pieces – however there is more margin for error using this technique.

If you need to clean your wallpaper, wipe gently with a soft cloth, lightly dampened with water only (except for Silk Paper wallpaper which should be wiped with a soft dry cloth).
